Youth Programs
Extended School Care
CCD, in partnership with Colonial School District, provided extended school care and summer programming to 75 students from Carrie Downie Elementary School during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. This grant-based program helped provided local families with free extended care programming that focuses on educational, nutritional, recreational, and social development activities. We believe this holistic approach to youth development assists local youth in becoming the best versions of themselves.
CCD’s multifaceted model of childcare helps youth participants stay mentally and physically active, while also helping them improve socially and academically. With a specific emphasis on collaboration with community partners, this youth development program has helped CCD inspire continued change in local communities by planting the seeds of hope for the next generation of Delaware’s leaders.
Prevention Program
Thanks to generous grant funding from the City of New Castle, the CCD HOPE (Healthy Options for Prevention Education) Program will be available to a limited number of 7th grade students living within the city limits of New Castle. The HOPE Program, utilizing Project ALERT’s evidence-based curriculum, is designed to educate adolescents on resisting substance use. This structured program will provide participants with once weekly lessons each Thursday from September 26th through December 19th at the New Castle Public Library.
